In today’s economy, having to get up and commute for more than 20 minutes to get to work is a bad idea because the price of gasoline is so high. To make matters worse, work under someone who has mismanaged you or paid you no real value. Needless to say, few people are truly “satisfied” with their work. This is part of what makes freelancers so attractive. But when we look at some of the pros and cons of freelancers, is it really worth it?
1. Go to sleep! One of the main attractions of freelancers is that you can create your own schedule. You are your own boss!
2. Reduce driving time! If we can all avoid depleting our bank accounts to commute every day, we will. I recently researched my own “gasoline spending” and was surprised to find that I was spending only $345 a month driving to and from work. Other trips are not even included!
3. Take the office with you! As a freelancer, you can take your work with you (if you have a laptop) and enjoy a different work environment. Wi-Fi connections are available in many places, such as: McDonald’s, Panera Bread and many local coffee shops.
4. Let creativity flow! Sometimes, when we work in an office environment, we are forced to do things that we have no control over, such as ringing the telephone, talking colleagues, opening and closing doors, meetings, etc.; but if you are your own boss, you can turn off the bell to better control the environment.
5. Time of the day! Let’s face it, some of us just don’t work in the morning. However, some of us are the first to get up and prepare for a new day. If you think better at night, you have the freedom to work at night. This allows you to go out all day to play golf or watch a movie and relax, then settle down to do some evening work… How good does this sound?
Disadvantages of Freelancing:
1. When will I be paid? Unlike “regular” jobs, freelancers sometimes need to be more financially savvy. You really need to be extra careful when accepting freelancing or performing. Know in advance how much you have to pay and how you have to pay. People are often caught working but never see the paycheck, or haven’t received the paycheck for a long time.
2. Is it good for someone? Many employers who work in the office receive some sort of compensation in the form of health benefits, 401k, etc. Most freelancers will only have to deal with these things. Or, if you’re in a relationship, you can only count on your partner’s well-being. Either way, you’re unlikely to get a freelance job where the person you hire is willing to provide you with health benefits.
3. Distracted, distracted! Working in the office can be distracting, as can working in the comfort of your home. result? Your work efficiency is not as high as you think, so the quality of your work is sometimes compromised. As a freelancer you have to be very disciplined. For some people who have children or live with others, this may mean letting others in your family know what time of day you will be working (so they’ll be considerate). If you are someone who is easily distracted by your surroundings (such as refrigerators, TVs, etc.), you may just need to pack your things and head to the nearest library or coffee shop.
4. Do you write for yourself? If you are an entrepreneur, that would be great! However, most freelancers write for others. For some people this is not a big deal. But for others, it can make life a bit mundane. As with any job or career, ask yourself if you enjoy doing what you do. Once you have found the answer, you can make the required changes.
5. How long will this take? The most important thing in every freelancer’s head is, “How long will this job last?” Writing for someone can sometimes put some pressure on you. After all, many freelancers will not meet employers face-to-face. Job security is also a major problem these days. What compensation do you charge this person? If you respond to an ad, what do they charge you? Freelancers are competitive because more and more people now want to work from home and get a decent salary. However, you should remember that as a freelancer, you are almost always an employee, which means that if the employer spends more money than he or she thinks the value of doing a particular job, he will not hesitate to look for a replacement. !
